Matterhorn Marketing can easily describe SEO with a simple clip from the hit t.v. show “How I met your mother.”

As an aspiring digital marketer, currently building an SEO company, I was impressed.

I have seen that episode where one of the characters named Barney who is played by the great Neil Patrick Harris aka NPH. NPH plays a womanizer/lady’s man in the show who will stop at nothing to get a woman in bed.

In this particular episode he uses SEO to trick a girl to thinking that he a more successful man by the name of “Lorenzo Von Matterhorn.”

Spoiler alert: Barney’s a genius at SEO

SEO works like magic. You type in a question or some words and Pow! You get results that show up according to the words you use to search.

Behind the magic of SEO are extremely complicated algorithms that will rank the results accordingly to what the user has searched.

Google’s algorithm has thousands of factors that will either give you a higher rank or a lower rank.

So what have I learned thus far is that if you can rank within the top three sites on Google search, there is a 7/10 chance that the person searching will most likely click on one of the organic results.

Organic search is when Google returns your results that were not places there because of paid ads. Google’s paid results are known as “paid traffic.”
